News Update! 2018 Jenny Wren 5K a resounding success!
Mother Nature provided a glorious spring morning! Walkers & runners left the starting line, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd of supporters. Five lucky winners were awarded beautiful chair planters created by Ann Thaxter, and everyone gathered to enjoy a beautiful and festive brunch prepared by talented volunteers. Thanks to the dozens of event participants and the hundreds of donors who pledged them, the event raised over $9,000 for Island Commons. Thank you all for supporting the Commons in memory/honor of those special women in your lives!

Rain or Shine, Followed by a casual brunch
Pre-Celebrate Mother’s Day by participating in the 2nd annual Jenny Wren 5K Run in memory of Jeanette Hamilton. Walk or run in memory/honor of a mother, grandmother, aunt, or special woman in your life. All profit to benefit the Island Commons.
The single loop course will begin in the Island Commons parking lot and proceed down Littlefield Rd. Turn left onto South Rd., left onto Roy Hill Rd., left onto North Rd., left onto Schoolhouse Rd., left onto South Rd. and finish in front of the Island Commons. Timing will be provided by stopwatch only.
In an effort to include more walking participants, we have added the shorter, 3K Ken Hamilton route this year. This single loop course will begin simultaneously with the Jenny Wren runners, but you will turn right onto South Rd, right onto Schoolhouse Rd, right onto North Rd, right onto Littlefield Rd and finish at the Commons driveway.
Beautiful mother’s day themed prizes will be awarded to each of the following race/walk finishers: 1st Female 5K runner, 1st Male 5K runner, Wisest (oldest) participant-either route, Freshest (youngest) participant-either route, and Top Fundraiser.
Join us for an informal brunch of muffins, breads, fruit, coffee, juice, and Mimosas at the Island Commons following the run/walk.
In place of the traditional registration fee, the Jenny Wren 5K Run has created individual and family fundraising goals for participants. We encourage you to reach out to friends, family, co-workers, and local businesses for pledges to help you reach (or exceed!) your fundraising goal.
- Individual fundraising goal: $75
- Family fundraising goal (members living in the same household): $125
- Kids under 10: Free
* The first 100 registrants will receive a spring themed gift! Race-day registration available beginning at 8:00am in the Island Commons parking lot.

How do I collect pledges?
You can collect pledges in person or via the Island Commons website. Click (HERE) to download a pledge sheet. Cash and checks should be brought to the registration table on Race/Walk day. Online pledges can be made (BELOW). Please instruct the pledger to list your name in the PARTICIPANT NAME box so that we can properly assign credit. All pledges are tax-deductible.
What if I don’t meet the fundraising goal?
If you are having trouble meeting the fundraising goal, please reach out to the Vicki Todd at 846-5610. She may be able to connect you with individuals interested in pledging participants. If your fundraising goal is not met by race day, we welcome your participation! The Jenny Wren 5k Run is meant to be a fun, relaxing, family-friendly event. The more participants, the better!
How can I sponsor the event?
Our goal is to cover all event costs through sponsorship. This will guarantee that all participant pledges go straight to benefitting the residents of the Island Commons. Please contact Vicki Todd at 846-5610 to learn more about sponsorship opportunities.
I chose "runner" on the registration form. Can I switch to walk on race day?
Of course! Walk, run or do a little bit of each! We want you to enjoy the course in whatever fashion feels best for you. Strollers and pups welcome!
I’m not up for walking or running. Can I still participate?
Yes! We have many volunteer opportunities available (e.g. race-day registration, course flagging, baking, set-up/clean-up, etc.). Please contact Vicki Todd at 846-5610 to learn more.
